Sectors are from a set list: these are the sector breakouts we use on pages like the angel investor directory. Are sectors comprehensive? No. Are they an attempt at trying to make a general bucketing of companies that can help you compare and contrast between investments? Sure!
When we first see your company or pitch, we'll try to categorize it into a Sector based on the information we have at hand. You can always remove or override any Sector decisions.
We also have tags on Signed as well- those haven't changed. But now tags are much more oriented towards how you decide fit. You may tag something YC26, or To-Review, or any sort of categorization scheme you find helpful, and leave the sector classification up to us.
